Peace & Presence

Peace is often spoken about as though it is a permanent state we should somehow be able to achieve, while presence has become a popular word for simply being in the moment, or about a Presence that is in us that we need to connect with. Real life is rarely that tidy. We experience grief, uncertainty, disappointment, conflict, loss, responsibility, and change, and none of these disappear simply because we decide to be more peaceful or connected to the Presence within us. Perhaps peace is not the absence of difficulty, but our capacity to remain connected to ourselves in the midst of it. Perhaps presence is not about emptying our minds, but about being present as they are unfolding rather than constantly living somewhere in the past or the future. And perhaps Presence is that part of us which supersedes our physical reality. Let’s explore what it means to be present to love’s presence in us, being present to others, and to the life we are living, and to discovering whether peace can exist alongside, rather than apart from, everything life brings.

Here, we explore different avenues of faith, belief, spiritual practice, and the curiosity to discover what rings true, peaceful, and joyful for you. While my own foundation is biblical, this does not preclude me from seeking wisdom, insight, and greater depth from other perspectives as I continue to grow in my own spiritual connection. I invite you to do the same, to explore with an open mind, question what you encounter, and discover what speaks to your heart and resonates with your own beliefs. You are invited to explore the quotes below and see if any of them speak to you, resonate with your own faith and beliefs, or simply give you something to think about.
