If you haven’t noticed this by now, I am one of those people who opts out of using clichés, pop-psychology words, over-used words in a multiple of areas, and I opt in for choosing words that cause you to stretch your thinking rather than have you living off preconceived notions of what I am saying, based on prior definitions and meanings you have given to these words and terms.
‘Spirituality’ and ‘wellness’ happen to be two of these very words as they mean different things to different people. So for the sake of simplicity and to avoid any confusion, I want to point out at the outset that ‘spiritual’ referred to hereinafter, relates to things not of the physical body. It is that which has a causal effect on someone’s life. It is your faith. Your belief system. Something that is far greater than you and I. This does not mean that it is external to us, but rather, I believe this part of us is what steers the ship, what gives us hope, what gives our lives meaning, and what is within us, and all around us, and not just outside of us. For me, spiritual wellness is about nurturing the deepest part of who we are. It is the quiet place where our beliefs, values, purpose, and faith shape the way we think, respond, and live each day. Regardless of any and all the circumstances we face, spiritual wellness provides a steady foundation that brings hope, strength, peace, and direction. For many people, this is rooted in a relationship with ‘God’. It is through faith, prayer, and timeless truths found in Scripture that we discover wisdom, experience grace, and find the courage to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. As our faith grows, so does our ability to love, forgive, trust, and live with purpose. Spiritual wellness is not about perfection, rituals, or having all the answers. It is about growing each day, learning from life’s experiences, and allowing your heart, mind, and spirit to be shaped by truth, compassion, and hope. It invites you to slow down, reflect, and develop a deeper awareness of God’s presence in your everyday life.
The way we nurture our spiritual wellbeing influences every other area of wellness. It affects our relationships, our decisions, our resilience during difficult times, and the way we care for ourselves and others. A healthy spiritual foundation provides stability when life feels uncertain and reminds us that we are never alone. Whether you are strengthening a lifelong faith, rediscovering your purpose, or simply seeking greater peace and meaning, spiritual wellness offers you practical encouragement and timeless principles for support. It is a space to grow in faith, deepen our understanding, and embrace a life shaped by love, hope, wisdom, and trust.
Something profound happened to me the other day. I went to a Church service and to Reconciliation. I had been to Mass recently, but not to Reconciliation. It was about 3 decades since I went to Reconciliation. So I went. I wanted to ‘get things off my chest’ and thought this was the right thing to do, and for me, it was. I cannot explain it. Not to myself or anyone else, but something happened to me since that moment. Something shifted and changed inside my mental and emotional states, and to date, this has been the best ‘something’ in decades. So, no matter what your faith or belief system is, whatever you decide upon, embrace it fully. For me, I get simplicity of faith in the small things. Whether it is communing with others in a formal environment, like a Church service, or whether it is just connecting to that which is larger than I am, my reason for living, in the comforts of my own home, that is all good with me. This does not mean you will accept everything you hear, but it does mean that your heart will be in the right place, and for me, that is all that matters.
This section explores six key areas of spiritual wellness, each designed to help you strengthen your relationship with God, deepen your understanding of the teachings of Jesus, but which applies to all people from all different walks of life, and live with greater meaning, purpose, peace, and confidence. This sustains me in times of trouble when challenges just never seem to be ending, and when I feel like all hope is draining from me. These six key areas are what keeps me focused on God, and it can help you too.
- Teachings & Wisdom → Discover practices and principles that provide guidance, direction, and help for everyday living.
- Love & Forgiveness → Choose love instead of fear, and extend forgiveness that brings healing, freedom, and deeper relationships.
- Prayer & Reflection → Create space to connect with your inner compass, quiet your mind, and grow through prayer and reflection.
- Awareness & Truth → Develop spiritual awareness and discover the truth that leads you home to yourself.
- Purpose & Passion → Follow your passion with purpose, clarity, joy and love, every single day.
- Peace & Presence → Experience the calm, strength, and reassurance that comes from living in love’s pure presence.
Each key area explores different perspectives from a variety of spiritual voices and traditions. You’ll encounter a few different traditions, spiritual teachings and words of wisdom, and while my foundation and faith lies in the truth of Jesus Christ giving up his life for the salvation of humanity, it does not preclude me from gaining meaningful insight and perspectives from other avenues. I mean, who am I to limit the all-knowing, all-intelligent, and all-powerful creator of all that is. Here you will find insights, perspectives, and other view points from:
- Jenny Breakey — my own reflections, experiences, and perspectives.
- The Bible — foundational spiritual wisdom and the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
- Rumi — mystical and poetic wisdom that speaks to love, surrender, presence, and our connection to the Divine.
Together, these perspectives offer a variety of spiritual walks of life, giving you the opportunity to explore different teachings and discover what holds meaning and resonance for you. You may find yourself drawn to one source, several, or simply a particular idea that meets you exactly where you are.
Life is filled with choices, opportunities, challenges, and constant change. In a world full of competing opinions, expectations, and distractions, it can become difficult to know which direction is truly right for you.
Your Inner Compass is the quiet wisdom within that helps you navigate life with greater clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
At Wellness from Within, we believe that every person possesses an inner compass. It is shaped by your values, experiences, strengths, beliefs, intuition, and the person you are becoming. It is not about having all the answers or never making mistakes. Rather, it is about learning to trust yourself, listen to your inner voice, and make choices that align with who you truly are.
Many people become disconnected from their inner compass without even realizing it.
Life can become so busy that we begin living according to expectations rather than intention. We may seek approval, compare ourselves with others, or make decisions based on fear, pressure, or obligation instead of what genuinely feels right for us. Over time, this can leave us feeling uncertain, overwhelmed, or disconnected from ourselves.
Reconnecting with your inner compass begins with self-awareness. It involves taking time to understand your values, recognize your strengths, acknowledge your emotions, and reflect on what truly matters to you. The more you understand yourself, the easier it becomes to make decisions that support your wellbeing and create a life that feels meaningful and authentic. Your inner compass is not fixed. As you grow through different stages of life, your priorities, perspectives, and aspirations naturally evolve. Experiences shape us, challenges teach us, and new opportunities invite us to grow in unexpected ways. Listening to your inner compass means allowing yourself the freedom to adapt while remaining true to your core values.
Periods of uncertainty are a natural part of life. There are times when people feel lost after major life changes, personal setbacks, disappointment, or unexpected challenges. During these seasons, it is easy to question your direction or lose confidence in your ability to move forward. Yet these moments often become opportunities for reflection, growth, and discovering strengths that may have remained hidden during easier times. Your inner compass helps you find direction even when the path ahead is unclear. Rather than relying solely on external opinions, it encourages thoughtful reflection, curiosity, and intentional decision-making. It reminds you to pause before reacting, to consider what truly matters, and to choose responses that align with the life you want to create rather than simply responding to immediate circumstances.
Developing your inner compass also strengthens resilience. When your choices are guided by your own values instead of external validation, you become less influenced by comparison, criticism, or unrealistic expectations. You begin to develop confidence in your own judgment and a greater sense of stability, even when life feels uncertain. Creating space for reflection is an important part of this process. Whether through journaling, spending time in nature, mindful breathing, quiet contemplation, or simply stepping away from the noise of everyday life, moments of reflection allow you to reconnect with yourself. These quiet pauses create the clarity needed to make thoughtful decisions rather than rushed ones.
Your inner compass also influences the way you relate to others. As you become more grounded in who you are, your relationships often become healthier and more authentic. You communicate more openly, establish healthier boundaries, respect differences, and make choices that reflect both compassion and integrity. Living in alignment with your values creates greater consistency between what you believe and how you live. Finding your direction does not mean life becomes free from challenges. There will always be uncertainty, setbacks, and unexpected changes. The difference is that you develop the confidence to navigate them with greater resilience, self-awareness, and purpose. Instead of feeling pulled in every direction, you begin making choices that reflect your values and support your overall wellbeing.
Your inner compass is not about searching for something outside yourself. It is about rediscovering the wisdom, strength, and clarity that already exist within you. As you learn to trust yourself, you create a stronger foundation for every area of your life—from your relationships and career to your health, wellbeing, and personal growth. True wellness begins when we stop looking for all the answers around us and start listening more carefully to the wisdom within. Your inner compass is always there, quietly guiding you toward a life that reflects your values, supports your wellbeing, and allows you to live with greater intention, confidence, and purpose.

Two Resources That Have Inspired Me
Two things that have had a substantial impact on my life and faith in recent years are the Hallow App and the television series The Chosen.
- Hallow is a prayer and meditation app that offers guided prayer, Scripture, reflections, meditations, and other resources designed to help you create space for stillness, faith, and connection with God.
- The Chosen is a television series that brings the life and ministry of Jesus to the screen through the stories and perspectives of the people who encountered Him.
Both have given me new ways to reflect on faith, deepen my understanding, and experience my relationship with God in a more personal and meaningful way. I have included them here for anyone who may be curious to explore them for themselves. They may not resonate with everyone, and that is okay, but if you are curious, I invite you to take a look and see whether either speaks to you in your own style of faith and belief.
Both Hallow and the TV series The Chosen have enhanced my faith and made it feel so much more historically grounded. There are teachings and so much more within both that have put things into perspective in ways I had never known before.
I grew up in a Catholic household, went to Catholic Mass well into my teens, and was also raised by nuns from around two to nine years old. With that as the backdrop to my upbringing, it makes complete sense that I would find a sense of peace and comfort in this faith.
However, this has not closed me off to venturing beyond the faith to explore other avenues. In many ways, it seems I have come full circle, and I now find myself in a rather unexpected position. I have found myself accepting of so much more than I once was. I have participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony, studied Eastern and Western religions, and explored many different perspectives on spirituality and belief. And yet, through all of this exploration, I find the truth of Jesus firmly rooted in my being.
It is from this point that my relationship with God begins — and shall never end.
I pray and hope that you too will find your truth, experience that same sense of knowing, and hold firm and dear to that which is the captain of your heart and life.
You are in my prayers. Always.
