Why and for Whom is Building Best Businesses?
- shareholders
- employers
- leaders
- management
- employees
Unfortunately, it is not possible to please everyone all the time, but it is essential that fair practice is always followed.
But you do need to focus on building healthy working relationships, rock-solid values, an inclusive culture, offer excellent products and/or services, have strong leaders, all whilst continuously evolving to meet our clients’ expectations and market demands, and showing respect for all employees, regardless of the title they hold.
Identify Your Purpose: Firstly, understand why you’re starting your business. What drives you? Align your business goals with your own values, strengths and passions.
Know Your Market/Audience: Define who it is you want to serve. Understand their pain-points, their needs, and how you can best help them.
Create a Strong Brand/Image: Build a brand/image that reflects your why, vision, mission, values, and the unique services/products you provide. Always be authentic.
Develop a Clear Business Plan: Outline your business strategy, goals, target market, offerings, pricing structure, organizational structure, and marketing strategies.
Focus on Quality and Client Experience: Offer exceptional value and make sure client satisfaction is always your top priority. No Clients – No Business. Know Your Clients – Know Your Business.
Leverage Technology: Use tools that help automate and streamline processes (email marketing, project management, financial tracking, etc.). This will save you time and money.
Networking and Building Relationships: Network for impact and growth, and build lasting business connections with peers, communities, and potential clients.
Adapt and Evolve: Stay open to feedback and adapt your business strategies as and when needed to stay relevant and competitive.
Invest in Learning: Continuously improve your skills, whether in marketing, finance, leadership or other skills you use in your day to day operations.
Manage Finances Wisely: Keep track of your cash flow, manage expenses, and make smart investments in your business’s growth. Ensure you have weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual financial reviews with all relevant parties.

Design it. Build it. Elevate it.
I have looked at various business sites and found so many where I can see that the people behind the content, actually have not experienced it for themselves in either and/or a small, medium, and large enterprises. Further to this, a lot of content is also AI generated (and I was recently informed that some of the OpenAI content can be legally construed as plagiarism), when what is needed in helping people in business, is real people, with real experiences, insights and wisdom, to help you navigate through the complexities that robotics are just not able to do.
And this is where my story becomes profoundly real. As a former HR Executive, Director, and being someone involved at all levels within an organization (small, medium and large), and within in different fields of the business, I have gained valuable insights that will help you look at things from a new perspective. These shifts in perspective can have a ripple effect in your business which can directly impact the careers of others around you and your business as a whole.
I am not unfamiliar with, and nor do I mind them at all, the awkward conversations. I am going to help you, whether you are an employee, an employer, or part of the management structure, navigate your business and/or careers, by not just operating from text book methodologies (of which many work well), but also by bringing humanity back into the business equation, and to help you see just how impactful your humanity has on your career and business.
Things that are unapologetically addressed, and being unashamedly ethical in all my business dealings, we address issues such as, and in no particular order:
- how neuroscience can help you create results in your business
- creating a fair and equitable workplace for all
- how to transform business data into actionable insights
- creating an Ethics Committee
- how and what defines a leader vs a manager
- holding people accountable
- effective management training
- egos in the boardroom
- pay differentials based on gender inequalities
- sexual harassment
- whistleblowing
- your disciplinary and grievance code of conduct
- your flow of business communication both up and down the business organizational structure
- having those awkward conversations with grace and dignity
- dealing with poor work performance and setting clear guidelines of expectations from both employee and employer
- using the probationary period for its intended purpose
- favoritism in the workplace
- how to map out guidelines for your career advancement
- dealing with the bully boss
- dealing with difficult employees
- sorting out the blame game once and for all
- employee and employer rights
- gaslighting in the workplace
- creating a culture of inclusivity
- reassessing your organization’s culture and values
- …. and so much more
Here’s the thing, you can learn one of two ways. The first being (i) text book style, and you will find some of that here, and (ii) through raw, real and honest dialogue about tried and tested methods (what did and didn’t work). I prefer the latter, because here you get first hand information on some key critical issues without just having the theory. Going forward, and especially in The Online School for Best Businesses, we are going to roll up our sleeves and get down to doing some serious planning, decluttering, debunking myths, and looking at things from other people’s points of view, and not just our own. And yes, we will learn the art of compromise, while still holding to our values, as well as how to collaborate together for the betterment of all. Why is this important? Because we want to leave the world for our children’s – children’s – children’s, as a far better place than when we found it. It is possible. If there are enough people willing to do better, be better, live better, treat each other (and ourselves) better, and work better, then we will come a long way in forging communities that work collectively for the good of all, in an honest and transparent way.
